RE: Orphi Pass, Uncompahgre National Forest, Colo.

Mikey, Engineer pass??? WOW. I think we'll let someone else do the driving. We went up Pikes Peak with the TC, which still has DW's nail prints still in the dash. We have been over most of colorado with the TC (mostly paved roads) but this part of the Colo. (Engineer pass, Creede, etc) we haven't explored. I think it's time! She's just going to have file off those nails.

RE: Posting Photos Brad's Way

Thanks, I'll give it a try. For some reason I'm not catching on very well concerning adding pictures... but I'm very excited that at least I've had this one success! Paulette

RE: Orphi Pass, Uncompahgre National Forest, Colo.

Okay, I'm going to risk sounding like a real wimp here, asking about jeep tours. But we've only driven the main roads through the San Juan's, looking wistfully at what probably lies beyond and wishing we could take the camper way back in there for great scenery and isolated camping. BUT ignorance is not bliss and I don't care to risk life, limb, camper and DW. So perhaps a jeep tour might be a good choice for a first time look-see. Are jeep tours worth the money? And are they any more capable than I am??

RE: Fuel Cost

Everyone talks about supply and demand or more commonly greedy speculators. Most people never talk about the money supply as oil is bought with the "reserve currency" US dollar which is not backed by anything but the faith in the US govt and is being inflated at an astonishing rate of how much we can't see anymore due to M3 (total money supply) no longer being reported by our fed reserve. The world knows we have over $70 trillion in "off balance sheet future obligations" and a huge deficit paid for by more inflation. There have been over 30 hyper inflations since 1900, Germany,China,Hungry,Brazil ect. Why does everyone think it cant happen to us when we are just repeating what has happened to EVERY paper currency in the history of the world? Add to this growing wealth by China and India and tier demand of billions of people wanting to live like us and this is the result. We are a huge over extended consumer now begriming to pay the piper. I am in total agreement with this statement. But how in the world are we going to get out of this mess? And why would anyone in their right mind want the top position in the country and take it on??

RE: Fuel Cost

Let's hope it doesn't get any worse, but then who would ever have expected this.

RE: Fuel Cost

Ohmigosh no. We are planning a trip to northern Calif for a 100 yr reunion in Aug. What will the prices be by then!? And in our area, diesel is quite a lot higher than gas.

RE: On the TC road to the West

Anne and Joe, Your trip journal with photos is really getting me in the mood for our big trip to Calif in early Aug. We went to Yellowstone last year, but I'm sooo ready to head west again! How are your diesel costs the further west you go?? Paulette

RE: Where are the truck campers?

We try to stay away from major highways and I think most of the truck campers do the same. When you find a campground way off the beaten path, you'll probably find truck campers. We do. We'll be heading west in late July and early Aug. for about a month. Maybe we'll see you!

RE: What will we haul our T/C with in 10 years?

Spott... our son in law (lives in Michigan) builds and flies hovercrafts as a hobby but he uses snowmobile engines. I'll bet an engine like that would really move his hovercraft! (check out our website to see his hovercraft) Paulette

RE: Is a Lance Squire 4000 same as Lance 915?

Ours is a '92 Lance Squire. We bought it new and we still love it. This past summer we took a month long trip to Yellowstone and Colorado and never experienced any troubles. The only problem we've ever had was with the refrig. and it was a simple fix... Wayne did it but I can't remember exactly what it was. The air conditioner still works too. The sinks, stool, shower, and stove have always worked properly. Our interior has an L shaped kitchen with lots of counter space, which I love. The floor plan seems to be like most truck campers of that time. Ours fit on our long bed '87 Ford diesel and now on our '03 dually Ford diesel. The camper length is 10'9". We have "almost" always kept ours in the barn. Check out our website for pictures. Paulette
